Today is Family Day. Although it is a civic holiday in Ontario, it isn’t a holiday at the federal level, so even though I live in Ontario, some of my clients are national organizations. Therefore, while everyone around me is enjoying the holiday, I have to prepare for an event this afternoon. It is an interesting group, as I have to interpret for a gentleman that attends via telephone. Therefore, most of the people receive my interpretation with the simultaneous interpretation devices, and I speak into a speaker phone as well so that the person on the phone can hear me. I have never interpreted this way before, but it seems to work.
