International Women’s Day

International Women’s Day

I am surrounded by strong women, both professionally and personally. In fact, I am the only male employee in my company. As a man in a female-dominated workplace, I am often told that there are many things that I wouldn’t understand, but one thing that I do understand is that without these women, our company would not be where it is today… and since today is International Women’s Day, I would like to highlight how incredible my team is.

Melissa is our Vice-President and she started getting involved in the company operations in 2013. Since then, she has propelled our sales to the next level. Her first year on board, our sales increased by leaps and bounds, and my workload decreased significantly. This is a win-win situation for any company CEO. She is driven and focused, and worked arduously to get us our ISO certification, which has made our process flawless and more efficient.

More importantly, she has taught me how to tell our clients how important they are to us. I have always been thankful for our clients and the trust they have bestowed upon us to break language barriers, but I never knew how to properly show my gratitude. Melissa is our voice when it comes to expressing how we truly feel about every single one of our clients.

Our newest member of the team is Christine, our Director of Client Care.  Christine is a highly experienced director with an up-beat outlook that brings a new energy to our organization. She is also incredibly sensitive and friendly and those qualities show when she speaks to our clients.

Susan is our Office Manager and she is organized and a master at multi-tasking. Her life story is a source of inspiration to everyone in our company. Her laughter is contagious and her work ethic is irreproachable. We are very lucky to have her on our team.

Jeannine is our bookkeeper and she is meticulous, talented and full of knowledge.  Jeannine always goes above and beyond the call of duty. She is our source of wisdom and our biggest supporter. There truly aren’t words to express how valuable she is to our company. Jeannine also holds the purse strings–so everyone is especially thankful on payday!

Elana has been our website developer and technical support person from the beginning.  If anyone needs help with emails or YouTube videos or updating our website—Elana is always happy to help. She is both incredibly knowledgeable and seriously talented and her creativity and ability to think outside the box have helped our organization become what it is today.

It has also been a true pleasure to work with our female interpreters and translators. Some have been very nurturing; others have offered support when the workload becomes overwhelming and all exude in professionalism and tact.

My company is in good hands, and it is mostly thanks to the women who help run Pendleton Translations Limited. My daughter has told me a few times that she would like to work in our company. She is 9, intelligent, sensitive, tech savvy and very ambitious. If she ends up choosing to work at Pendleton Translations when she is older, I am certain that the company will thrive to the next level. But whatever path she chooses to take, she will always have her father’s support and unconditional love.

Happy International Women’s Day!
